Hyla’s rugged and funky “Amnesia Variance” coursed with energy from the opening chord, with the jangly sound of the hammered dulcimer dominating the ensemble sound, blending at one point as an ear-catching duet with bass clarinet, one of Hyla’s favorite instruments.
